The reasons included the isolation and elevation of the site, the deep silence, the overwhelming transfiguration, the brilliant light, and the cloud enveloping them, all of which caused great fear. While Peter was still speaking, a radiant cloud enveloped them, and they heard a voice emerging from the cloud. This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear Him. In the Old Testament, the cloud represented God's presence (Exodus 19:18; Exodus 24:18; 1 Kings 8:10, 12). The voice that the disciples heard from the cloud echoed the one they had heard at the baptism of the Lord, enhanced by the command, Listen to Him; this served as a reminder of Moses' prophecy (Deuteronomy 18:5), which was fulfilled in Jesus. The Gospel of Matthew accurately portrays the condition and stance of the disciples at this time: they were filled with fear and fell prostrate; Jesus approached them, touched them, and said, Arise and do not be afraid. When they stood up, having lifted their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus Himself. Meanwhile, Luke provides a significant note that at the moment the voice was heard, Jesus was alone, allowing the disciples to see clearly to whom the voice referred: this one. Furthermore, Mark emphasizes the sudden absence of Moses and Elijah from the sight of the disciples."}]}
